Paul used to be called Saul of Tarsus and to tell his story we have to go back to BEFORE he began to do amazing things for Jesus.
Jesus had died on a cross at a place called Calvary - and then came back to life again! And he proved he was alive by appearing to his followers.
Jesus disciples (his close followers) were hiding in a locked, upstairs room when, suddenly, he appeared right beside them!
Jesus told them not to be afraid anymore and he showed them the holes in his hands and feet from the nails that had held him on the wooden cross when he died.
Jesus did that so they would know he wasn't a scary ghost but a real live person.
Later on, Jesus took his close followers from the upper room and out of Jerusalem to a hill top in a place called Bethany. There he blessed them (wished them well and prayed for them) and then Jesus disappeared!
But even though they were sad that he had disappeared from sight, his followers worshipped him because now they knew for certain that Jesus was ALIVE - forever! This made them REALLY happy!
